"Oh my...no..." Helena whispered, watching as Edward Hyde's hand slowly
reached towards her. It was moving slow, too slowly to do her any
harm, and before he could even reach her it twitched and fell to the
mattress. Hyde slowly opened his eyes, looking at Helena with a strange
expression
she couldn't fathom. Pain? Fear? Confusion? _ Anger?_
"Stupid...bitch...you stupid...stupid...uhhh..." He muttered, moaning and trying his best to seem intimidating simultaneously.
"I don't believe you can hurt me...I don't believe it, Hyde. Don't you
even try to scare me now!" She stood, watching him lie there, not knowing
what
to expect in the least. When she had injected Henry the first time,
he had begun to hallucinate, but with three times the proper dosage and
a raving
lunatic on her hands, she didn't know whether to run for her life or
the antidote. Hyde didn't look as though he was going anywhere, though,
at least
not for the moment.
"You are much dumber then I thought you, Helena...Oh, this hurts much
too much..." He gasped, speaking calmly but lunging forward violently.
What did you hope to do, stop me from emerging? Stop Henry from seeing
the truth?"
"I did NOT make love to you, Edward Hyde-"
"Unfortunately for both parties involved, no...but the latter part..." he chuckled darkly, "Well...you'll see for yourself, won't you?"
"What latter part? Hyde I do not intend to...oh God..." She started
out with her most triumphant voice, but when she recalled what Hyde meant
by "the
latter part" her heart skipped a beat. Until this moment she had never
once feared that Mr. Hyde would kill her. She had feared his temper and
violence,
yes-more then she had ever feared another man-but now that he had decided
her fate, she knew he would not rest until it was done. "If...if you love
me
as you claim to, why would you wish to h-hurt me, Mr. Hyde... Edward?"
She asked timidly, Hyde was still lying on the bed, but now she had no
doubt about his hidden strength. The formula seemed to show no signs
of affecting him, and he still watched her with his riveting gaze.
"I'm afraid it's too late for wooing now, _Ms. St. Just._ You don't
care for me...you only care for _him_, you only want _him_, you only _LOVE
HIM!!!" _ He whispered, his voice rising to an insane scream by the
end of his phrase. "I have wasted more then enough time on trying to win
you
the..._humane_ way...now I'll have no regrets when you scream for my
mercy. _YOU WILL HAVE NO MERCY_, do you understand me?" He
shouted, raising himself slowly off the mattress. Helena stood frozen
to the floor, knowing that despite this purposeful sluggishness there was
speed
within him yet. In fact, it seemed as though the overdose had had the
opposite effect of what was intended. She had created a virtual killing
machine.
"Edward, please...listen to me! Henry, if you can hear me _stop him_...please..."
She said, but her terrified tone was so soft she doubted Hyde could
even hear her. She was mistaken. He stopped in his tracts when she
said this, and stood upright with a bemused smile on his face.
"Oh? Shall we check in with the good doctor?" He asked, raising an eyebrow.
Helena knew this was her chance to run but her legs we leaden. She
could not move from the room, or tear her eyes away form Hyde's captivating
glare. "Yes, I suppose some _good-byes_ are in order, seeing as the
two of you will cease to exist very shortly."
"N-no...you'll die, too..."
"ABSOLUTELY NOT!" He screamed, taking a step closer. "It seems this
horseshit you and Henry have concocted _does_, in fact, serve a
purpose...I've never felt so _alive_..." he paused, shutting his eyes
and leaning back, his robe falling form his shoulders and pooling on the
floor
around his feet. Helena watched in fear, part of her hoping that his
queer behavior was the formula finally taking control, but she knew better
than to let
her hopes take control. He let out a huge breath and smirked awkwardly,
raising his arms slightly by his sides, but suddenly he stumbled backwards,
his fist latching on to one of the bedposts for support. He teetered
on the verge of falling backward, then suddenly hunched forward, and as
he stood in
this strange fetal position, Helena heard the most disturbing sound
she had ever heard. It was a scream unlike any she had ever heard, a low
wail that
reminded her of the tales her grandfather used to tell her about Irish
banshees haunting the forest. Yes she immediately knew it was not coming
from
Hyde's throat, but from a voice literally trapped within him.
"Helena...help me..._kill me_...please...end this now...end my pain..._please_..."
She literally shook with sorrow as she listened to the suffering of
her darling doctor, the man she loved, but soon the sound of the pain
filled screams began to meld with an even darker sound. Yes, she was sure
of it,
Hyde's laughter could be heard almost _with_ Henry's shrieks, as though
the two were almost completely separate beings. The formula was doing its
job, yet the results were disastrous. Somehow Hyde had gotten the upper
hand, and she could not bear to hear Henry's suffering.
"Well...it sounds as though _he_ is having the time of _his_ life..."
The man before her whispered, and Helena let our an audible sob when it
was
Edward Hyde's voice, and only Hyde's voice she heard. He stood wearily,
releasing the bedpost as though nothing had happened.
"You bastard...you goddamn bastard. I can't bear his pain, you know that!"
"YET YOU LET ME SUFFER IN THAT SAME PLACE!!!" He screamed, again full
of rage. "That SAME Hell...I've stayed my piece there, you
Bitch! No more, not for Hyde!!! It's _HIS _turn!" he grinned then,
suddenly, increasing Helena's heart rate tenfold. He giggled madly and
then
whispered basely, licking his lips. "Oh yes, Helena...it's _your turn_
now!!!" Helena's scream caught in her throat as his was suddenly let loose.
Again the sound was as inhuman as Henry's wail, but this scream was
recognizable...it was utterly animal. And as she instantaneously regained
her
senses and lunged for the door, Edward Hyde ripped the nightshirt from
his body and pounced...
